Dear Friends & Neighbors,
We’ve been serving Hardyston with pride since 1967, and we’ve seen how our community has blossomed to over 8600 residents. We also see that emergency calls have increased steadily but the number of volunteers helping our community has not. In order to serve Hardyston better, volunteers are urgently needed. The requirements for this job are dedication, community concern and a passion to help others. Volunteers receive training in life skills useful in both personal and professional situations at no charge.
Please consider helping us with driving if you don’t have the time or desire to train as an EMT and encourage your children to consider joining as cadets if they are between the ages of 16 and 18. In 2010, Hardyston’s volunteer squad of just 19 active Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), First Responders, and drivers responded to 821 calls with over 2200 manhours for medical emergencies, search and rescue, fire calls, motor vehicle accidents and 61 mutual aid requests in surrounding towns.
The First Aid Squad relies heavily on donations from our community for stocking our ambulances and training our members. Last year our goals included the purchase of a First Response Vehicle ( a 2000 Ford Explorer with the support of Marathon Motors and Geddis Sign, Inc) to allow us to send a first responder directly to a scene. This year, one of our goals is to begin planning for a building on the north side of town. During the months of July and August we will try to meet as many of you as we can as we conduct our door-to-door campaign. If you see one of us and have any interest or questions about how we work, please feel free to stop and talk with us.
Thank you again for your continued support. Please mail your tax deductable donation in the envelope provided when you can. If you would like to help your family, friends, and community by volunteering with us, please call 973-697-7282 and leave a message with your name and contact information or e-mail us at <hardystonems@gmail.com>.
Sincerely yours,
Ken Boturla, President, Vincent DiPietro, Captain , Wayne Ross, Treasurer and Bethana Brooks, Secretary
for the Hardyston Township Volunteer First Aid Squad.
